Geography of Malaysia
Area: 329,749 sq. km. (127,316 sq. mi.); slightly larger than New Mexico.
Cities: Capital--Kuala Lumpur. Other cities--Penang, Ipoh, Malacca, Johor Baru, Kuching, Kota Kinabalu, Petaling Jaya.
Terrain: Coastal plains and interior, jungle-covered mountains. The South China Sea separates peninsular Malaysia from East Malaysia on Borneo (400 mi.).
Climate:
Warm, sunny days and cool nights all year round with occasional rain in the evenings. Temperature ranges from 23°C to 33°C. Humidity usually exceeds 82.3%. Although rain falls throughout the year, September to November are generally the wettest months.

How to go to Malaysia
The best way to get to Malaysia is via air. You can enter Malaysia through 2 main international Airports in Penang(PEN) and Kuala Lumpur(KUL).

Money
Currency for Malaysia is Ringgit. At the time this article is written, 1USD =  3.78 MYR and 1GBP = 6.64 MYR. Money changers and banks will change the USD/Pound for Ringgit for slightly lower rate but it is quite convenient. ATM machines are available for foreign card too. Credit card is accepted for most shopping complex and restaurants.

Getting Around in Malaysia
The fasters way to travel inter state in Malaysia is air travel. There are 2 main airlines that provide domestic flights: Malaysia Airlines (MAS) and Air Asia. If you need economic flight, Air Asia is your best choice.

If you are not rushing, train and bus can be the good choice to travel state to state. The train service is provided by Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad.

For traveling around town and city, you can choose to take taxi or cab, make sure you bargain first before you take the ride . Car and scooter rental are also available, but it is not advisable if you can't handle the traffic especially in busy city like Penang and Kuala Lumpur. Best way to travel around the city is to walk around but mind the hot weather!
